    About Local Buses in Tignes

    There are four main villages in Tignes, all of them are linked to the same great ski area and three of them connected via free shuttle bus services. From the lowest elevation to the highest, they are Tignes 1800 (Les Boisses), Le Lac and Lavachet. Tignes also has direct buses to the nearest large town, Bourg Saint Maurice, as well as with the resort of Val d'Isere.

    When looking at timetables be aware that they're in French so L = Lundi / Monday, M = Mardi / Tuesday, Me = Mercredi / Wednesday, J = Jeudi / Thursday, V = Vendredi / Friday, S = Samedi/ Saturday & D = Dimanche / Sunday.

    Tignes boasts an efficient, free shuttle bus service with 24 bus stops from Les Boisses all the way up to La Grand Motte. The Tignes 2100 route between Le Lavachet and Val Claret operates from 06:30 to 21:30, with night buses from 21:30 to 06:00. The Tignes 1800 route runs between Tignes 2100 and Tignes 1800 from 07:15 to 00:30.

    Pedestrians can also travel for free between Les Brevieres and Les Boisses (Tignes 1800) via the Brevieres chairlift.

    Buses from Chambery airport to Tignes operate four times per day on Saturdays and once on Sundays during the ski season. It takes around 2h45 to get to Tignes.

    Buses from Lyon airport run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the ski season, three times per day and take around 4h00 to get here. 

    Buses from Geneva airport operate every day of the week in winter with six buses on Saturdays, four on Sundays and three on all the other days of the week. This route also takes around 4h00.

    Buses from Grenoble airport operate five times per day on Saturdays and once on Sundays in winter and take between 3h30 to 4h00 to get to Tignes.

    Tignes has a bus terminus (Gare Routiere) in central Tignes and at Val Claret where a couple of international coaches stop. The local bus (line T15) from Bourg St Maurice train station stops at Les Brevieres, Tignes 1800, Le Lac and Val Claret.

    Bourg Saint Maurice train station is located 30km from Tignes. Numerous trains (TGV, Eurostar etc) frequently arrive in Bourg Saint Maurice throughout the winter. Bus services run regularly from there to Tignes and take about 1 hour. Alternatively, you can take a local taxi (approximate cost €80).

    There are also direct bus services between Tignes and Val d'Isere in the winter season.
