Tignes Apres Ski Review: 5th December 2014

Outdoor concerts and parties on the pistes

featured in Nightlife reviews Author Holly Millar, Tignes Reporter Updated

There was no shortage of live music and fun to be had in Tignes this week. On Wednesday night, there was a big outdoor concert in Le Lac – nothing like free music to get the season started. Tignes is hosting the shooting of the TV show “Les Copains D’Abord”, and if you have been wondering about the giant tent in front of Maison de Tignes, it was for the concert (sadly not a magic snow-making tent).

The concert took place inside the tent, which was rigged with some crazy lights, screens and loads of camera equipment. Kicking off at 20:30, it was a family friendly event, with kids and adults in the crowd dancing and singing along. Some pretty big French artists hit the stage to perform, most notably Patrick Bruel. The crowd really let loose when he came out and sang along to all of his songs. Hopefully everyone was doing a snow-dance at the same time…

For those watching on the screen outside, hot chocolate was being served, which is always awesome. With all the lights from the concert, on the mountains and a fun energy from the crowd, it was a really great vibe in Tignes last night. A great way to kick off the early season, and a good indication of what’s to come! The next big outdoor event will be TAG spectacular and urban show, presented by Cirque Éloise on the 25th and 31st of December. This performance will be a ‘must see’ in for anyone in Tignes over the holidays.

After the concert, the next stop was Whiskey Wednesdays at Le Brasero in Le Lavachet. Nothing like a good whiskey to warm you up! There was more live music here, more sing-alongs and an overall great vibe. They were featuring a list of whiskey cocktails available only on Wednesdays and a three whiskey tasting flight for 10€. The bar and restaurant is under NEW ownership this year so be sure check it out. Le Brasero is sure to be a regular stop this season.

With the season really kicking off this week, there have been lots of great opening parties and just some overall great parties. For those looking to really really party, there will be heaps of special events from the 6th to the 13th of December for Varsity Trip.

On the mountain, the first event of the season is World Snowboard Day on the 21st of December. Kids ages 3-11 can take part and there will be fun games, events and prizes to be won all day. Next up, on the 22nd of December is the Women’s FIS downhill ski competition – entertaining and inspiring for skiers of all levels to watch.

So as we all wish/hope/pray for snow, there is lots to do in Tignes until the white stuff arrives.
