Eurostar to start direct service to the Alps
by Alison Shayler | Skinets Administration | published 15-Jul-2010
The high speed Channel tunnel train service, Eurostar, is to start providing a direct service from the UK to the French Alps as of this winter.
Trains will leave from St Pancras and Ashford train stations calling at Moutiers, Aime-La-Plagne and Bourg Saint Maurice. The service will run weekly starting from 19th December 2010 and prices start from £149 return.
Although journey time will undoubtedly be longer, taking the new direct service will mean that you will no longer have to factor in a potentially costly airport transfer, you will not be charged extra for a ski/board bag and there will be no hanging around at the baggage carousel on arrival.
And you can feel all nice and eco-friendly, knowing that you are generating a fraction of the carbon emissions involved in taking a flight!
