Tignes has been open for glacier skiing since September, but this weekend saw the pistes of Val d'Isere open and with it the liaisons between the two resorts, meaning the Espace Killy is now well and truly open for the 2009/2010 winter season.
In Val d'Isere the resort was celebrating their opening 'Premieres Traces' weekend with the Ski Force Winter Tour also rolling into town. Since then, we've seen new snow falling at resort level, which meant we woke to fresh snow in Tignes and Val d'Isere this morning.
This weekend saw the opening of Aeroski, Tommeuses and Tufs lifts ensuring access between the two Espace Killy resorts is assured with your skis or boards on your feet. In total, there are now 38 pistes and 36 lifts open across the two resorts of Tignes and Val d'Isere.
In Val d'Isere the likes of Funival and Daille lifts are open and in the main resort area there's Olympique, Solaise Express, Datcha, Lac, Madeleine and Glacier Express lifts open amongst others. If you're a beginner in the Tignes area, good news as Rosset in Le Lac and Bollins in Val Claret are both open - for free.
