Worth noting is that at lunchtime most restaurants will offer a well-priced 'Plat du Jour' (dish of the day), normally consisting of locally-sourced meat, potatoes and a salad or seasonal vegetables.

Breakfast and brunch

In resort you'll find coffee and croissants if you like an early start, or somewhere to simply grab a coffee on the go. But if you're after a full English or a bacon sarnie, there's a spot for that too if you don't mind waiting until late morning for more of a brunch.

Cafes and bakeries

As in any French town you're never far from a bakery to pick up a fresh morning baguette. Tignes has a number of cafés and snack bars serving sandwiches and small bites, where you can grab something to go or have a coffee and catch up with friends.

Child friendly restaurants

Most, if not all of the restaurants in resort are child friendly, especially if you let them know in advance. Evening meals are normally served from 19:00, and the restaurants are quieter at this time than later on.

Throughout the resort you'll easily find a French restaurant to suit both your taste buds and your budget, whether it's homemade Savoyarde specials in a cosy rustic bolthole, or a light airy modern gourmet experience with a wine list and dessert menu to die for.

Italian and pizza restaurants

Like most places, you don't have to look too far to find a decent pizza. Plus, many of the local French restaurants also do good pizza and pasta, and there are some good pizza takeaways.

Tignes has two Michelin starred restaurants, plus a number that are recommended in the Guide Michelin for the quality of their cuisine, worth calling well in advance to secure your table to avoid disappointment.

There are numerous bar-restaurants in town with large wooden tables and comfy alcoves that are ideal for families or group outings.
