Tignes Lift Pass Options - Winter

Lift Pass Options for Tignes - Winter
With eco-issues and climate change being ever-more important to mountain resorts Tignes has come up with the Ecopass. This recyclable version requires no deposit and can only be bought in resort. A photograph is required for 8-21 day passes. Recycling bins for old cards can be found by the lift pass offices.

For maximum convenience the rechargeable pass can be purchased online and is valid for 3 years. Once purchased, at an initial price of €3, this pass can be charged and recharged as necessary online. A photograph is compulsory.
Espace Killy or Tignes Lift Pass?
For intermediate skiers, buying a pass for the whole Espace Killy is to be highly recommended. It is only marginally more expensive than a pass for Tignes only (€42 per day compared to €36, €202.50 per six days compared to €174) and cheaper than extending your pass to cover the whole area for a day or two. Val d'Isere is very easily accessible via the Borsat Express or Tommeuses lifts and there are blue runs back into both resorts. If the snow conditions are variable, it also means you can maximize the skiing potential of the whole area.

Family Lift Pass Options
If you are travelling “en famille”, then the Espace Killy has special lift pass offers for families. Large reductions are available for a family of 2 adults and 2 children (between 5-17 years, up to 21 years if still a student), when you buy all your passes at the same time (minimum 6 days). Reductions also apply for additional children and under 5’s ski for free! Proof of age is required. Please click here for full details of all lift pass prices.

Beginners Lift Passes & Free Lifts
There are 5 free lifts available in Tignes that are aimed at encouraging beginners up the slopes, namely:
  • Val Claret Claret draglift

  • Val Claret Bollin chairlift

  • Tignes le Lac Rosset chairlift

  • Le Lavachet Lavachet draglift

  • Brévières Pitots draglift
If you are a complete beginner, then it is likely that you will be joining ski school for most of your stay, so it is worth discussing with them which pass option is best suited for their beginner groups.

Pedestrian Passes
Not everyone comes to Tignes to ski, and when there are such beautiful panoramas to take in and mountain restaurants to enjoy, we can understand why! These high-altitude restaurants vary from the more refined gastronomic end of the scale to the self-service carb-loading cafeteria-style. Often, at the busier bars and restaurants there will be a party atmosphere with DJ’s playing out on the terraces and deckchairs from which to enjoy the sun. Here are a few to try:
  • Restaurant Tovière, at the top of the Aeroski gondola from Tignes le Lac

  • The Panoramic, at the top of the funicular from Val Claret

  • L’Alpage, accessible via the Chaudannes chairlift or L’Aiguille Rouges chairlift

  • Lo Soli, also accessible via the Chaudannes chairlift or L’Aiguille Rouges chairlift
Lift pass prices are reduced for pedestrians (piétons), and some areas are even free or include extras such as a meal at a designated restaurant. See here for details and prices.

Discounted Rate Passes

From 22/12/07 onwards families can benefit from a discounted pass for 2 adults and 2 children. There are two price brackets, depending on whether you have young children (5-13 years) or teenagers (14-17 years). Click here to find out more!

Start of Season Discount
Lift passes are also discounted at the start of the season, from 01/12/07-21/12/07, for those who fancy squeezing in a bit of pre-Christmas snow! In a resort with such a good snow record as Tignes the chances of there being decent snow cover this early on in the season is pretty high, this is an option worth considering if you have the flexibility to keep an eye on the weather reports and book a last minute flight if it looks good.

Children
Children aged between 5-13 years pay less for their lift pass and little ones under the age of 5 ski for FREE (they will still require a pass but you will only pay the initial €3 fee).

Seniors
Anyone aged between 65-74 years is eligible for the same reduced rates as children. For example, a day pass will cost €33.50 or a 6 day ticket €162. If you are 75 years or older then you can ski for FREE!

1/2 day pass - does exactly what it says on the tin and is valid for 4 consecutive hours giving you access to all the lifts that you can use on a regular pass. If you like to ski as and when you please but are not fussed about being out all day then this is an ideal choice. Your 4 hours begin from when you take your first lift so make sure you leave enough time to get back to where you’re staying!

NB Proof of age is required for any reduced price or free lift passes

Lift Passes - Additional Information
It goes without saying that you must be properly insured before taking to the slopes, but you can also purchase insurance on a daily basis as you buy your lift pass. ”Carré Neige” is the instantly recognised mountain sports insurance in France that covers you for:
  • Search and rescue expenses, first aid and rescue transport

  • Medical expenses and repatriation costs (within France only)

  • Reimbursement of unused days ski pass (restrictions apply)

  • Carré Neige costs just €2.50 per day for adults (€2 for children).

Photographs are only required for season passes and for Seniors (75 years +) passes of 3 days duration or more.

Loss of theft of your lift pass
Hopefully this will never happen to you but if it does you must complete a report with one of the cash desk staff quoting the Ski-pass number (WTP number for on-line sales) from the back of your pass. Take a note of this number when purchasing your pass and keep somewhere safe just in case. Subject to usage checks, the lift operator will then issue a replacement ticket the following day and your original pass will be deactivated.
