Faced with rising wolf population, the French national wolf group have decided to increase the number of wolves culled this year to 24, up from just 11 last year.

The wolf population in France has grown by an estimated 25% this year which has caused for concern amongst the authorities.
The latest wolf plan is set to cull 24 wolves over a short period of time in an effort to both preserve species and prevent excessive proliferation.

Only recently a wolf had been spotted by a piste patroller in Chamonix, this was the first time that a wolf had been sighted in the Chamonix valley for many years.
Wild wolves try to avoid contact with people, if contact is made they appear timid and tend to flee.
