Quadruple freeride world champion & racing driver scores most votes

Following the resignation of the mayor of Tignes, Tignards have been through a first round of voting and will need a second round to validate the votes.

Local freeskier and motosports star, Guerlain Chicherit, launched to the top but did not secure enough votes to secure his spot in the local council. Guerlain, aged 35, is a quadruple world freeride champion and is now known for his impressive array of motorsport feats (see Mini backflip in Tignes).

Olivier Zaragoza resigned after 11 years at the head of the Tignes council, following his court sentence for illegal invested interest in property development in Tignes.
Tignards went to the polls for the first round of a municipal by-election of six councillors this Sunday and due to a slightly insufficient number of voters the first round could not be validated and a second round is now necessary.

The figures for the first round:

  • Guerlain Chicherit: 364
  • Sébastien Bourdette: 351
  • Chantal Gelas: 343
  • Pierre Rougier: 338
  • Jean Rignault: 307
  • Thierry Puts: 301

The second round will take place on Sunday, 25th of August 25.
