2011 London Ski Show

What to look out for this year at the Ski Show

Winter starts this weekend in London with the annual Ski and Snowboard Show. This year the show is back in its old venue of Earl's Court and, as usual, there is plenty to do. To help you make the most of the show we went ahead and came up with a list of our top five attractions for this year.

ABS airbags recall

Gas canisters filled between the dates of 1st Sept 2008 to the 15th April 2010

ABS are recalling all steel cartridges filled between the 1st September 2008 and the 15th April 2010. There is a chance that the canister manufacturer supplied ABS with a faulty product which could result in the airbag failing to activate.

It seems a bit unseasonal to start digging out the goggles when our long-awaited 'Indian summer' is finally putting in an appearance but tomorrow marks the start of winter in Tignes.

This weekend sees the International Freeski Film Festival roll into Annecy town and in two weeks time the Snowboard Garden Festival takes over Grenoble.

Tignes glacier closes early for summer skiers

Hot weather forces glacier ski area to close a week early

Due to the recent hot weather (for which we are not complaining!) the glacier has unfortunately had to close early to skiers and snowboarders.

Meteo France has issued an orange alert (we think this may be bad but not quite as bad as a red alert, although we’re not sure...) due to incoming violent storms across the east of France.

We had great snow for Christmas and we're forecast fantastic blues skies for the first few days of 2011. Resort is busy at the moment but that just means there should be a great vibe for the New Year's celebrations.

Earlier this month, the 2009 Alpine ski world championships in Val d'Isere ran into more problems, with the chief executive of the organising committee, Jean-Paul Pierrat, resigning.

Val d'Isere, France - French organizers of the 2009 alpine ski world championships in Val d'Isere are making progress after some earlier hiccups, the ruling body FIS said on Wednesday. The FIS had voiced concern over the state of piste preparations earlier this year, which prompted the resignation of organizing committee chief Jean-Claude Killy.
